Event will be a Run/Walk, strollers allowed Rain or Shine Volunteers Needed! Please contact carine@promiseplaces.org. Chris McCandless believed in helping those less fortunate. As told in "Into the Wild", the internationally best-selling book and critically-acclaimed film about his life, he donated his entire $25,000 life savings to do just that, before choosing to live a simpler life as a traveling adventurer. Chris's journey ended tragically several years later in the Alaskan wilderness. Yet his remarkable story of courage and overcoming adversity continues to inspire others, including his sister Carine with whom he shared an uncommon bond. Her work to continue his legacy of helping others has resulted in several fundraisers over the years with a focus on human rights advocacy, a cause close to Chris's heart. Promise Places is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization working to provide independent lifestyles for the mentally disabled through appropriate housing in a safe and nurturing environment, with life skills training, job placement assistance and community involvement. This 5K will offer immediate timing results for running enthusiasts. The following walk will be just as fun for families and friends wanting to enjoy some time together while supporting a wonderful cause. Please join us for this very special event. Thank You! |
