As part of the Talk About Teaching series at Virginia Wesleyan College, Doug Kennedy, professor of Recreation and Leisure Studies, and Carine McCandless, author of The Wild Truth, will discuss the challenges of helping students understand what makes certain information the "truth" and the barriers that arise in the process. The discussion will also include how Carine's work with students became part of the motivation for writing her memoir and how that experience has exposed students to the untold truth behind the novel Into the Wild as well as how students might discover the importance of finding and confronting the truth in their own lives.
A book signing will follow.
